It strains off sand, gravel, rust and other trash from the outlet that are large enough to stop up your lines.  "The eXcluder" is self-cleaning when properly installed. The items that are strained off pass to the end of the pipeline, where they are flushed.  "The eXcluder" is simple to install. Align with the flow of the mainline pipe and press into the outlet nipple or threaded gooseneck, then screw the nipple into the mainline pipe. The basket strainer of "the eXcluder" extends into the mainline pipe to strain the water leaving the pipeline."The eXcluder" offers very little restriction. The inside diameter is 1/2" and the open area of the strainer basket is 1/2" on each side. Slots in the basket are .050" wide to strain off parts that will plug a #4 nozzle (.065"). You can eliminate 90% of nozzle plugging on a center pivot by installing "eXcluders" in the first three spans of a new system.

Cobco eXcluder Installation Instructions for Gooseneck Nipples (3/4”)

The Cobco 3/4" eXcluder should be positioned so that one of the closed areas of the strainer basket is facing 90 degrees perpendicular to the direction of the curve of the gooseneck.  This provides for the closed area to face the flow of water in the pipeline.  Check the nipple for lip burrs and either ream or grind any burr away prior to attempting to install the eXcluder.  There is no warranty for cut O-Rings.  Occasionally you may find the inside of a nipple very rough because of excess galvanizing, or find the diameter to be small because of out-of-tolerance manufacturing.  This should not be a common problem, and it is suggested that the nipple be laid aside for use where eXcluders will not be installed.

When the gooseneck with eXcluder is to be installed on the pipeline, first inspect the collar to make sure that the opening into the pipe is large enough to accept the basket strainer.  The basket should slide easily into the hole without dragging.  Any dragging may cause binding and breakage when the nipple is being screwed into the collar.  Breakage of this type is not warrantied.  If the hole is not large enough it must be drilled or torched until it is of correct size.
